“Financial Investment” and Financial Aid

For adults, we like to refer to the tuition expenses as your “financial investment”. Like buying a house, the investment can seem large initially but the returns end up being greater, and grow over time. Statistics indicate that our lifetime earning potential dramatically increases with a university degree. That’s why we think of it as an investment with returns!

Tuition Rate

The University’s normal tuition for this academic year is $585 per semester hour. We are pleased that TWU has allowed a grant of $160 per course to all of our Bellingham students reducing the cost to $425 per semester hour. * Total cost will be dependent upon how many semester hours are required in an individual learning plan. The cost for visiting students who wish to audit is $549 per course.

Other Fees

For those ordering textbooks through the University, these will be waiting for you in your classroom at the first class – no need to go to a campus bookstore. Talk with your advisor about details and costs. Textbook fees vary by course.

Financial Aid Options

Understanding that financing your education is an important consideration in your life, we invite you to visit our office to view our resource materials on financial aid. We attempt to keep an updated list of lenders and scholarship/grant awards in our files and are happy to share this information with you. We also have 2009 U.S. Government information on grants, loans, and scholarships that you are welcome to examine and copy.

New Financial Aid Source!

Sallie Mae Smart Options loan is being made available to our Bellingham students.  This is a deferred (principal) payment student loan where students pay only the interest while taking classes.  Follow these steps to apply:
  1. Go to http://www.salliemae.com/get_student_loan/find_student_loan/smart-option-student-loan.htm

  2. Click on “Ready to Apply”
  3. Click on “Quick and Easy Application Process”
  4. On the “Select a State” drop down box, scroll all the way to the bottom and click on “Outside the U.S.”
  5. Click “submit.”
  6. On the schools list, scroll down until you find Trinity Western University.  Click on it.
  7. Then, follow the rest of the directions.

A semester’s worth of courses would cost about $3825 plus maybe $300 for books, so that would give you an indication of what to borrow.  Be sure to borrow enough for three courses here (@$1275/course plus books) and whatever courses you may be taking at another college (total may be $5000 per semester.)

This is a deferred loan, but they require monthly payments on the interest while you are in school.

Payment Plan Options

Students may arrange in advance for a monthly payment. There will be a finance charge added to the balance, otherwise the student may choose payment in full on a per course or module basis.

* Rate may vary annually
